India Fashion Week/Beach Fashion Festival (7 -11.Decembra Grand Hxatt hotel in Goa), this is the first-ever initiative to promote Indian resort fashion.The new annual event will feature the works of 22 designers including Shantanu and Nikhil, James Ferreira, Shivan and Narresh, Pria Kataria Puri and Anupamaa Dayal.India's first Beach Fashion Festival will take place December 10 - 11 at the Marbela beach resort, Morjim Beach, Goa. Featuring Provogue resort wear, shows will also feature international acrobats and fire-dancers.

Mumbai-based designer James Ferreira will open the show while Bollywood favourite Manish Malhotra will bring the curtains down Dec 10."When we think about beach fashion, style and attitude, Goa is the first destination on people's mind. Goa is visited by the maximum number of national and international tourists.
Goa has been synonymous with luxury, style and the beach experience worldwide," Ojha told IANS.
Delhi-based designer duo Shivan and Narresh, who specialise in resort wear, feel there is a long way to go to the next level, but are optimistic that with shows like this, resort wear in India will grow with leaps and bounds.
"Designers who ardently create resort wear many a times go unnoticed. India does not provide adequate impetus for this booming sector. IRFW provides numerous designers a platform to showcase their creativity. It will helps them tap this profitable segment," Shivan Bhatiya told IANS.

Metiers d'Art show: Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 and Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld appeared to spare no expense for the latest Chanel extravaganza, at the Galerie Courbe in the Grand Palais in Paris.
The Metiers d'Art show, launched in 2003 as a homage to the label's workshop, saw the Grand Palais in Paris transformed into an Indian-themed dinner party today, where they were served champagne, guava juice, tea, and miniature cakes and sandwiches. An antique silver train with the double-C Chanel logo ran around the central banquet table - and a feast fit for a king, lavishly romantic & always glamorous.

And there is no break for Karl Lagerfeld, who is so obsessed with his work, he doesn't even plan on taking time off for Christmas.

The designer told Style.com: 'Everyone I know is leaving, but I stay home because it's the only moment I can work on the Couture quietly, sketch, and take care of my books and houses - all the things I never have time to do the rest of the year.

'For me the ultimate luxury is to be alone, to have time for myself, not look at my watch, and do whatever I want, whenever I want.'

Sold for 30,000 pounds (35,000 euros, 47,000 dollars) the dress was part of a capsule collection of nine Saint Laurent pieces, dating from 1962 to 1970, at a Christie's clothing sale stretching from the 18th century to the 1980s.
Patricia Frost, director of Christie's textile department, described the dress, inspired by the work of Dutch abstract artist Piet Mondrian, as "a magic carpet piece, it takes you right back to 1966."
The London sale came just ahead of the 50-year anniversary of the founding of Saint Laurent's fashion house, on December 4, 1961. The couture house closed in 2002 when the designer stood down.
"Yves Saint Laurent French designer lives on everywhere you look," said Berge, now 81, who co-founded his fashion house and helped run it for 40 years. "The most important are perhaps those you notice less," he told AFP.
Berge's foundation has also sent travelling exhibitions of his work around the world, from Paris last year, to Madrid at the moment, and Denver, Colorado a few Fashion weeks from now.
"Yves Saint Laurent's clothes happen to make people look wonderful but they also have more depth to them," Frost said. "They should be looked at more as works of art. They are not really for wearing, they are more for museums."

genius,sometimes doing so in an explosion of flower-like ruffles, other times clouding over into black, fringed darkness.
H.R. Giger was the inspiration behind this particular collection. Anyone familiar with Giger’s work will instantly recognise the alienous baby heads imprinted on some of Dudek’s
gowns. Other pieces were inspired by Giger’s airbrushing techniques. The beauty and uniqueness of Dudek’s pieces, however, is in the transformation of Giger’s work into something entirely different: it’s inspired, but not literal.

The use of Giger’s work came with the artist’s blessing.
My desire with this collection is to honor to H.R. Giger, pay him tribute, and show how his influence resonates in the world of fashion. When I started sketching this collection and planning the fabrics, I couldn’t see it complete without elements of H.R.Giger’s artwork. And what better way for me, as a designer, to honor a man who’s Biomechanical vision has massively influenced architecture, film, music, tattoo art, fashion and industrial design. Last February, I sent sketches to H.R. Giger through his agent and to my surprise, I heard back almost immediately and was given creative freedom to incorporate a jointly agreed upon selection of Giger’s art! Says Dudek

You don’t have to be a Giger fan to appreciate the craftsmanship of Malgorzata Dudek’s gowns. If British creativity found its apotheosis in Alexander McQueen, then perhaps Dudek is set to be the Polish equivalent.

Wednesday November 30, 8.29am: The Disaya dress worn by Amy Winehouse on her multi-platinum- selling back to Black album has been sold for £43,200 - quadruple its estimated price - at a Kerry Taylor Auction held in London . The polka dot chiffon look was bought by the Fundacion Museo de la Moda - a fashion museum in Chile, with all proceeds going to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The late singer's dress will be sold off this evening as part the Passion for Fashion auction in London, which opened for viewings yesterday.

Profits from the sale of the cream and red polka dot Disaya dress will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity set up in the singer's memory.

Miss Winehouse's father Mitch said he was proud too see his daughter's dress up for sale alongside outfits worn by the other famous women.

"All these dresses are here for some of the most beautiful women of the 20th and 21st Century. So it's a testimony to them as well for, you know, the enduring love for Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana and for Amy. So it's an honour to be here amongst
those dresses," he told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper.
Miss Winehouse, who battled addiction to drugs, died at her home in Camden, North London in July aged 27. A coroner ruled that her sudden and tragic death was caused by alcohol poisoning.
